Dance Classes for Youth Youth dance lessons in Jazz and Tap will be offered for children ages 5 -14. Classes will begin monthly. All students must have appropriate shoes. Pre-registration is required, all students should register at least one week before the start of class.
Jazz for ages 5-9 will be held on Thursdays from 5-6pm. Jazz for Ages 10-14 will be held on Thursdays from 6-7pm. Tap for Ages 5-12 will be held on Fridays from 5-6pm. Fencing Fencing begins on September 9th and lasts for 10 weeks. During the session beginners will learn the basics such as attacks, parries, advances, and retreats. Intermediate-advanced fencers will be able to develop their skills through instruction and practice. Registrations are now being accepted. This new program has the YMCA and the NFL teaming up to bring kids the opportunity to experience the excitement of the NFL. With an emphasis on teamwork and participation, NFL Flag Football provides kids with non-contact, continuous action. During a one-hour practice participants will learn skills development through game activities and informal flag scrimmages.
League Runs: September 25th – November 6th, 2010
The league is open to boys and girls ages 9-15 (divisions may be combined/made coed if we do not have enough kids in a certain division). Games will be held on Saturdays (younger kids in the morning or early afternoon and older kids in the late afternoon). For the first two weeks of the season the Saturday time slots will be used for practice and the next four will be scheduled games. Practices will be held one evening a week on a weekday.

Karate for 7-12 year olds This program is designed to develop confidence, coordination, and self-esteem while learning traditional Japanese karate. We place an emphasis on developing the mind, body and spirit through physical fitness, philosophy, and daily living. Children will learn skills like blocks, punches, kicks, strikes, falls, rolls and throws. Traditional Kata(forms) are taught, and promotions are held throughout the year once required techniques are learned and mastered. Classes are offered in Monthly sessions. Karate for Adults age 13-99 this class helps you and your teen to invest in healthy habits of fitness and learn valuable self-defense. This is based on the traditional Japanese art of Koei-Kan Karate-Do and places an emphasis on developing the individual, no matter the age. The class teaches the foundations of traditional Kata(forms), throws, blocks, punches, kicks, and strikes. History, philosophy, and training make this a never-ending learning system. Classes are taught in monthly sessions.
