In our community, the Y is a leading choice in health and well-being. With a mission centered on balance, the Y brings families closer together, encourages good health and fosters connection through fitness, sports, guidance, and resources needed to achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, mind, and body.
No one under 12 years of age is permitted in the Fitness Center 12-15 young adults will be permitted to use the fitness center accompanied by an adult 25 years or older or unless they have completed the Teen Strength program. Youth 12-15 years old may use the equipment after successfully completing the Teen Strength Training Program. Their Teen Strength Cards are required to be worn upon entry to the Fitness Center.
This program is available to members between the ages of 12-15. They will learn the proper strength and cardiovascular training techniques. Upon completion of the program they will receive their Teen Strength card to wear as active members in the fitness and cardio centers.
Contact the Fitness Department to schedule Teen Strength Classes. Teen Strength consists of 4 sessions.

Teens turn to the Y for academic assistance, employment, life skills advancement and good, healthy fun. The Y is a place where teens can work out, give back and meet friends.
The Y is a place for teens to call their own and a safe environment where they can find a balance between freedom and responsibility.
We offer programs and services for teens age 12-18, along with year-round volunteer opportunities!
YMCA Teen Sports offer a great balance of competition, skill development, and sportsmanship. When participants work together in a team atmosphere, they learn how to make decisions, communicate, work on team building, trust, and build character. We teach the fundamentals of each sport, and just as important, we focus on the YMCA’s character development traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Active Older Adults (AOA) in the YMCA experience a strong sense of belongingness and a network of friends who provide supportive communities for sustained health and well-being. Through on-going, fun, safe, and engaging programs, activities, and events AOA members increase their self-confidence and sense of achievement while building relationships and celebrating the success and milestones of each older adult within their AOA community.
Older adults, individuals 55 and above, are a significant and growing segment of our communities. All AOA benefit from engaging in YMCA activities that enhance connections, decreases a sense of isolation, and improve overall well-being.

WalkWorks is a local walking program for people of all ages and abilities. Walking is one of the most popular options for physical activity in America, and for good reason:
Every minute of walking can extend your life for 1.5-2 minutes. An additional twenty minutes of walking daily can burn 7 pounds annually, even while maintaining the same diet (Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Iowa State University).
By becoming a part of WalkWorks, you can improve your health and socialize with friends and family while enjoying the scenery in a familiar area. You may discover landmarks you didn’t know existed in your hometown!

Individuals who participate in YMCA Fitness Centers become a part of a community of members who support each other with long-term health and well-being pursuits. YMCA Fitness Centers provide a welcoming, safe, and non-intimidating environment where health seekers achieve a sense of accomplishment in initiating and sustaining regular physical activity and other healthy habits.
Our Y Fitness Center includes reassuring staff that are trained to guide and encourage individuals to progress at their own pace and to create an individualized exercise plan that is personally meaningful to the participant. The flexible hours of operation and the variety of exercise options in our center allows members to choose their own workout and exercise routines, according to their own schedule. Individuals who use our center will be comfortable with their exercise program, be physically stronger, have more endurance, and have a high degree of self-confidence and commitment towards regular physical activity and well-being.

Offered free to ALL new members to help them safely learn how to use the Cybex and cardio equipment. Our fitness staff will work one-on-one with you to get proper instruction on our Cybex equipment, and a quick introduction to the cardio and free weight equipment. Contact the Fitness Department at 570-421-2525 ext. 117 to set up an appointment or get more information. Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Looking for more information than the original new member orientation? Small group training is results-driven training designed to take you to the next level. Enjoy the benefits of personal training combined with the motivation that comes from being part of a team. Big results in a small environment.
With a minimum of 2 participants (maximum 8), you will be instructed on how to effectively utilize the machines in the Fitness Center as well as bodyweight training in the aerobics studio.

Healthy living through physical activity is central to the Y’s cause. The YMCA’s Group Exercise programs are fun and interactive ways to engage members inactivity and positively impact their health. Tailored to health seekers, group exercise classes provide a variety of experiences that are designed to engage individuals in a supportive group setting, enhancing social bonds and strengthening community.
Members who participate in YMCA Group Exercise programs have improved physical activity, enhanced overall well-being, and heightened self-mastery to stay motivated to participate and engage in physical activity over a sustained period of time.
Classes run monthly and require a minimum number of participants to remain on the schedule.
AFEP (Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program): This class, formally titled P.A.C.E., will increase range of motion, flexibility, and strength. Ideal class for the first time exerciser or those with arthritis.
Ab Attack: This is a 30-minute class focused on toning and defining the abdominals, and strengthening the back to improve posture and core strength.
Balance & Meditation: This combination class involves full-body, multi-planar movements designed to improve stability and coordination, followed by meditation techniques to help you achieve a deeper sense of relaxation.
B.A.M. (Balance and Mobility): A movement-based training that works on balance, coordination, and functional strength. This class involves full-body, multi-planar movements.
Bodypump: The original, Les Mills barbell class, with cutting-edge choreography and chart-topping music.
Bootcamp: A military-inspired interval workout designed to improve overall fitness and stamina.
Cardio Mix: This fun class incorporates cardio intervals to target different areas of the body.
Chair Yoga: A gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting in a chair, or standing while using the chair for support.
Core Balance: This gentle class will strengthen your core, improve mobility, and better your balance.
Insanity: A total-body conditioning program based on the principles of MAX interval training, resulting in more calories burned, faster results, and a more efficient metabolism
Mat Stretch: Perfect 30-minute class for anyone dealing with muscle/joint stiffness, weakness, or fatigue. By connecting breath with movement, learn how to practice self-awareness and self-care.
PiYo: Combining the practices of Pilates and Yoga together, Piyo is a total body fitness class designed to get you in shape by increasing flexibility and building strength to help promote weight loss.
P90X: This amazing system targets a specific goal with each workout, focusing on agility, balance, mobility, and strength.
Silver & Fit: This class is designed for older adults looking for a well-balanced exercise routine. Participating in this class will increase your heart health, muscular endurance and strength, flexibility, and balance.
Silver Sneakers: These signature classes are designed specifically to help Medicare-eligible individuals (65 and older) improve overall fitness.
Silver Sneakers Yoga: A complete series of seated and standing postures designed to improve flexibility, balance, mental clarity, while promoting stress reduction.
Spinning: A high-energy indoor cycling class led by a motivating instructor who will teach you how to use the Energy Zones and discover your athlete within.
Stretch & Tone: Ideal for beginner exercises, or anyone looking to balance out their workouts with a low-impact class that will help to build muscle endurance while learning proper techniques for stretching.
Strong Core: By strengthening the stabilizing muscles, you will move more efficiently, reduce your risk of injury, increase your power output, and improve performance.
Tai-Chi: This ancient Chinese practice, known as “moving meditation”, stimulates the body’s energy flow while deepening one’s innate calm.
TRX: This suspension training program uses body-weight resistance to build strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability with hundreds of functional exercises that can easily adjust to all fitness levels.
Zumba: The Latin-inspired, dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music, and contagious steps to form a “fitness-party” that is downright addictive.
Indulge yourself with a massage geared towards those individuals with muscle pain, arthritis, or tension headaches. Reach the ultimate state of deep relaxation with a massage that will relieve stress and tension and improve circulation as you reach a heightened sense of well-being.

Interested in a great summer job or a challenging career as a professional lifeguard? Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding that includes first aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate.

Karate for Ages 13 - 99
This class helps you invest in healthy habits of fitness and learn valuable self-defense. This is based on the traditional Japanese art of Koei-Kan Karate-Do and places an emphasis on developing the individual, no matter the age.
