YMCA joins with PMC to offer Cancer Wellness Program

Stroudsburg – November 7, 2016 - Pocono Family YMCA of Stroudsburg has partnered with Pocono Medical Center’s Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center to offer an eight-week program for cancer survivors, New Beginnings: A Cancer Wellness Program.

The eight-week program is designed to benefit all cancer survivors from time of diagnosis, on through survivorship.

The class will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for eight consecutive weeks at a time. The cost of the program is $50 and upon completion it will be credited towards continuing wellness for any program they choose at the Pocono Family YMCA, including the Pilates Studio.

Management Agreement to Help Stabilize YMCA

Stroudsburg – August 25, 2016 The Pocono Family YMCA, part of the greater Stroudsburg community for over 100 years, has renewed energy following signature of a management agreement with the Greater Valley YMCA. “We signed a management agreement with the Greater Valley YMCA in July in order to provide seasoned support to our staff while we conduct a search for new branch executive for the Pocono Family YMCA. The Greater Valley YMCA has proven over the last six years that Ys, whether successful or struggling, can find strength in working together,” stated Melisa Mersini, President of the Pocono Family YMCA Board of Directors.” Mersini refers to a series of mergers between the independent YMCAs in Northampton and Lehigh Counties into one multi-branch YMCA association. Carol McCandless, Chief Operating Officer for the Greater Valley YMCA, added, “Every time we partner with another Y, we all learn from each other.”  Read more ....
