Pocono Family YMCA’s Zachary Wolbert finals four times at Nationals

Morning Call staff reports

Zachary Wolbert led the Pocono Family YMCA to a record-breaking performance at the YMCA Short Course National Championships by being the first Piranha to qualify for the Championship Final in all four individual events swam.

The team also tied for its largest ever National Team, with eleven swimmers qualifying. The records continued in the pool with nine team record breaking swims resulting in seven new team records, five of which are also new Monroe County Records. On an individual level, 19 swims resulted in personal-best times, including time trials. The boys team set a record for placement and points, finishing 16th with 58 points resulting from Wolbert’s swims in the finals.

Wolbert’s third place finish in the 200 Butterfly set a team record for highest finish at Short Course Nationals, and matches Sean Connors-McBride’s third place finish in 200 Butterfly at Long Course Nationals in 2003.
