JC Penny Customers "Round Up" for the Pocono Family YMCA Afterschool Fund
Thanks to the funds raised through a recent "Round Up" campaign at the JC Penny store at the Stroud Mall, more Monroe County children who are in need will have access to afterschool programming. From December 4-13, JC Penny customers were invited to "round-up" their JC Penny purchases to the nearest whole dollar and donate the difference to the Pocono Family YMCA Afterschool fund. Donations raised at JC Penny's recent "Round Up" event generated $1,385.48, bringing the annual amount raised in 2009 to $3,557.14. Kevin O'Rourke, JC Penny store manager, states: "One hundred percent of the contributions collected directly benefit the Pocono Family YMCA's Afterschool fund, in an effort of make affordable afterschool programs accessible for local families and meet the needs of the community."
